Isfahan Faculty of Architecture Pavilion

Design process

Isfahan Faculty of Architecture Pavilion

In the design of this pavilion, the following points were taken into consideration:

– School of Architecture

– Climate and western winds

– Spatial communication and increasing social interactions – structure and technology

– Contextual orientation and project site

Considering that this pavilion is intended for architecture students, we were inspired by the dome in its design. The dome has been one of the main elements in Iranian architecture for a long time, and according to our main goal, “to present the values of the past for the future.” We looked at the dome in a modern and contemporary way.

The heat and the sun’s rays in Isfahan and the western winds and its adverse effect on the users caused us to move the main space of the pavilion to the basement, and the gathering of students mostly takes place in the basement.

For more interaction, we considered the design in such a way that users on and under the arch communicate with each other, and in the center of it, we considered spaces for gathering and conversation. The structure of this arch is designed in such a way that it can be implemented without columns. For this, we considered textures from three sides of the ground so that they meet in the center and live and dead loads are transferred through three arms.
